SECTION 1 — Course Overview

What is the VFX Course at Pikazzo Institute?

The VFX Course at Pikazzo Institute, Chandigarh is a comprehensive, production-focused training program that takes you through the complete visual effects pipeline from understanding the fundamentals of how VFX is planned and integrated into live-action footage, all the way to delivering polished, studio-quality VFX shots for film, OTT, advertising, and digital content.

VFX Visual Effects is the art and technology of creating or manipulating imagery outside the context of a live-action shoot. It is what makes superheroes fly, cities burn, creatures breathe, and worlds that don’t exist appear completely real on screen. Every major Bollywood film, every major OTT series, and every premium advertising campaign now depends on VFX artists at every stage of production.

At Pikazzo, the VFX course is structured around the full production pipeline the way visual effects are actually done in studios, not the way they are taught in simplified course settings. You’ll understand how a VFX shot begins in Pre-Production (with VFX supervision on set), is executed in Production (with reference photography, green screen, and plate shooting), and is built and delivered in Post-Production (compositing, CG integration, colour, and final output).

Most importantly you will work on real footage. Pikazzo’s in-house RED Dragon Cinema Camera provides genuine cinema-grade footage for students to composite and build VFX upon. The texture, dynamic range, noise characteristics, and real-world complexity of RED RAW footage are completely different from stock footage or student-shot material. Learning VFX on real cinema footage builds a different quality of skill and it produces a visually different quality of showreel.

SECTION 2 — The Real Footage Advantage

Why Real Cinema Footage Changes Everything in VFX Training

Every VFX course in Chandigarh teaches compositing. Most use the same stock footage clips or sample plates that come bundled with software tutorials. The results look exactly like what they are practice exercises done on artificial material.

Pikazzo students composite on real RED Dragon cinema footage from actual film productions.

This is not a cosmetic difference. It is a fundamental difference in the quality of skill and the quality of portfolio work produced.

Why Cinema Footage is Harder and Why That Matters: Real cinema footage shot on a RED Dragon has grain structure, lens aberrations, real lighting imperfections, motion blur characteristics specific to cinema glass, and dynamic range behavior that stock footage simply cannot replicate. When a VFX artist composites a CG element into real cinema footage and makes it look seamless and believable, that is genuine professional-grade skill.

When studios review showreels, they can immediately tell whether a student has worked with real production footage or practiced on clean, artificial material. The complexity visible in well-integrated VFX on genuine film plates signals experience that studios respect and hire.

Pollywood Film Integration: Beyond the RED Dragon plates, Pikazzo’s active connection to Punjab’s film and music video industry means students get access to real VFX briefs from actual Punjabi film productions green screen shots to clean and composite, environments to extend, sky replacements on real location footage, and crowd multiplication on actual film plates. These become genuine portfolio credits, not simulated exercises.

SECTION 3 — What You Will Learn

The Complete VFX Skill Stack From Plate to Polished Shot

VFX Fundamentals & Production Pipeline Before any software, you’ll understand how VFX is planned and executed in the real world. VFX breakdowns from major Bollywood and Hollywood productions, the role of the VFX Supervisor on set, shot planning, reference photography, tracking markers, and how the VFX department integrates with the rest of a film or TV production.

Rotoscoping & Clean Plate Work The most foundational VFX skill and the one that gets many beginners their first studio job. You’ll learn to rotoscope with precision in Adobe After Effects and Nuke, clean plates by removing unwanted objects and rigs from footage, and deliver the invisible work that makes every other VFX element possible.

Green Screen Compositing & Keying The bedrock technique of visual effects production. You’ll learn to pull professional-quality keys from green screen footage — handling spill suppression, edge treatment, garbage mattes, and integration of keyed subjects into digital backgrounds with matched lighting, colour, and depth of field. You’ll practise on both controlled studio green screens and challenging, imperfect real-world keys.

Motion Tracking & Camera Matchmoving To make a CG element look like it belongs in real footage, it must move exactly as the camera moves. You’ll learn 2D tracking for simple element placement, 3D matchmoving for camera path reconstruction, and how to export accurate camera data from tracking software into compositing and 3D applications.

Matte Painting Matte painting is one of the most creatively powerful VFX disciplines extending or replacing environments photographically shot on real locations with digital painted extensions that appear completely photorealistic. You’ll learn digital matte painting in Photoshop combined with 2.5D and 3D projection techniques in After Effects, building the kind of sweeping environment shots that anchor many of India’s biggest film productions.

Compositing Adobe After Effects (Full Mastery) After Effects is the most widely used compositing application in India’s VFX pipeline used from small post-production houses to mid-size Bollywood VFX studios. You’ll master it completely: layers, masks, tracking, expressions, 3D camera, lighting effects, CG integration, colour matching, and final output. You’ll build complex multi-element composites that integrate live action, 3D renders, 2D graphics, particles, and atmospheric effects into seamless final shots.

Compositing Foundry Nuke (Professional Pipeline) Nuke is the gold standard of professional VFX compositing used in Hollywood studios, the biggest Bollywood productions, and international OTT pipelines. Its node-based workflow is fundamentally different from After Effects and is the tool of choice for high-end compositing work. You’ll learn Nuke’s node graph, its 3D compositing system, deep compositing for multi-layer CG renders, and the professional delivery pipeline used by studios like DNEG, Prime Focus, and Red Chillies VFX.

Particle Simulations & Dynamic Effects Houdini Houdini is the single most powerful and most sought-after tool in high-end VFX used to create fire, smoke, explosions, water, dust, cloth, and destruction effects that are physically accurate and visually stunning. Learning Houdini elevates your career into senior VFX artist territory. At Pikazzo, you’ll learn Houdini’s simulation systems Pyro FX for fire and smoke, FLIP Fluids for water and liquid, RBD for rigid body destruction, and Vellum for cloth and soft body dynamics. These are the simulation disciplines that studios pay the highest salaries for.

3D Integration & CGI for VFX VFX is not just compositing 2D elements it is integrating 3D CGI renders seamlessly into live-action footage. You’ll learn the basics of 3D modelling, shading, lighting, and rendering in Blender and Maya specifically for the VFX pipeline understanding how to match CG lighting to real-world plates, how to render in passes for maximum compositing flexibility, and how to integrate rendered 3D elements into real footage convincingly.

Motion Graphics & Broadcast VFX Motion graphics are visual effects for the commercial, broadcast, and digital content world animated titles, lower thirds, kinetic typography, data visualisation, logo animations, and broadcast design packages. You’ll master motion graphics in After Effects from basic animations to complex, expression-driven motion systems and learn Cinema 4D Lite for 3D text and object animation within the After Effects pipeline.

Virtual Production & Real-Time VFX The future of filmmaking is virtual production real-time rendering in Unreal Engine replacing physical sets and green screens entirely. You’ll learn the fundamentals of virtual production workflows, how LED volume productions work, and how Unreal Engine is being used to create in-camera VFX for films and OTT series. This is the most rapidly growing specialisation in the entire VFX industry globally.

AI-Powered VFX Tools The VFX workflow is being transformed by AI. You’ll learn to use AI-powered tools including Adobe Firefly for generative background creation, Runway ML for AI-driven video effects and motion, Topaz Video AI for upscaling and restoration, and EbSynth for style transfer integrating AI capabilities into a professional VFX pipeline without losing creative control.

SECTION 6 — Why Choose Pikazzo

Why Pikazzo Is the Best VFX Institute in Chandigarh

Real Cinema Footage The Only VFX Institute in North India That Trains on RED Dragon Plates When other institutes hand you stock footage to composite, Pikazzo hands you real cinema-grade RED Dragon footage from actual film productions. This is not a small distinction — it is the difference between a showreel that looks like student work and a showreel that looks like professional work. Production houses, post-production studios, and VFX supervisors can tell the difference in seconds. Pikazzo students enter the industry with portfolio work that commands respect.

Houdini Where Most Institutes Stop Short Houdini is the highest-earning specialization in the entire VFX industry and it is the tool most VFX institutes avoid because it is difficult to teach well. Pikazzo includes full Houdini simulation training: Pyro, FLIP Fluids, RBD destruction, and Vellum cloth. Students who graduate with genuine Houdini simulation skills are immediately competitive for senior and specialist VFX roles.

Both After Effects AND Nuke Complete Pipeline Most VFX courses in Chandigarh teach only After Effects. Pikazzo teaches both After Effects (the dominant tool for Indian mid-tier productions and advertising) and Nuke (the professional pipeline standard for Bollywood and international OTT productions). Graduating fluent in both makes you versatile and employable across the full range of Indian VFX studios.

Active Punjabi Film Industry Connection Pikazzo’s connection to Punjab’s growing Pollywood industry means VFX students work on real briefs from real productions not synthetic exercises. Real Pollywood VFX credits on a showreel are employment currency in the North Indian film and content market.

AI VFX Tools — Built Into the Curriculum The VFX industry is integrating AI at every stage of the pipeline. Pikazzo’s curriculum already includes Latest Video Ai Tools and AI-assisted rotoscoping and tracking tools that are now used daily in professional VFX workflows. Graduates leave equipped for the industry as it is in 2026 and 2027, not as it was five years ago.

9+ Years of Creative Arts Excellence Pikazzo’s background as a creative arts academy not a generic software training centre means our VFX students have a genuine artistic foundation in visual storytelling, colour, composition, and cinematic language. These are the skills that distinguish a technically competent VFX artist from an exceptional one.

The demand for VFX artists in India is not slowing down. Bollywood, Pollywood, OTT platforms, gaming studios, and international production houses outsourcing to Indian talent have created one of the largest creative employment surges the country has ever seen.
